I would rather be 99% sure god does not exist, than 100% sure he does.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13082822344467917420noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8150670299444200192.post-54763265936470405182008-04-09T06:15:00.000+01:002008-04-09T06:15:00.000+01:00"What "we" (myself and many of my fellow Christian..."What "we" (myself and many of my fellow Christians) never considered is that, we are strong and so much stronger then we'd ever given ourselves credit for."

Hear Hear!jamonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18272740536152837140noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8150670299444200192.post-65832951950708084062008-04-08T13:22:00.000+01:002008-04-08T13:22:00.000+01:00Hi Jamon,An interesting exchange, and as you say, ...Hi Jamon,

An interesting exchange, and as you say, nothing really new...same themes that many of us go over and over in our discussions.

I find his musings about "adversity" perhaps bringing some of us to our knees.

I look at my own suffering and pain and it was through that I actually (as part of my entire journey) moved beyond the need for "God" to manage it or cope. A constant theme in my past conservative evangelical belief was one of "weakness." We are weak, "He" is strong.

What "we" (myself and many of my fellow Christians) never considered is that, we are strong and so much stronger then we'd ever given ourselves credit for. The idea that "God" is the only way to cope with life's challenges may be Gerry's truth and experience. Many of us out here, who have been on both sides now, know that it just isn't the case.

The other thing I note about your exchange is that he thinks you're still wrestling with certain existential issues and your blog here is proof of that. :-) Why is it that non-theists would remove themselves from the theist discussion? We're just suppose to shut-up about it in a world dripping with theism? Nah, I don't think so.

Thanks for sharing this email discussion.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
