I just noticed your profile blurb; "A dog, whilst out and about, spends much of its time searching for evidence of other dogs. Once found and duly investigated, it douses said marker in joyful celebration that “I AM HERE!” ... In this drop it whispers, “I was here.”"
Reminds me of a texting teenager on a dying battery. Except that the dogs figured it out long before the cell-phone people did.

How big's little?
She was perhaps an inch across including legs.

RE txtng yoofs, ur right. LOL and all that malarkey ;-)
That's a fair size. Habitat?
Lurking in between the fence and a small, potted fir tree in my back garden.
She would skitter into a dark hole between fence planks if you blew on her. Otherwise she sat in the very center of the web. Proud as punch.
Incidentally, she was a European Garden Spider. Or Araneus diadematus if yer posh.
Around here, they call them Cross spiders, because of the markings. I don't like the connotations, so I use Araneus diadematus. Even if I'm not posh.
:D
